I hope this finds everyone busy in the auction profession and doing well.

For those of you that may not know me, I’ve lived around the Winner, SD, area most of my life. I am currently selling at 3 livestock auction markets (Platte Livestock Market, Presho Livestock Market, and Winner Livestock Market), as well as running my real estate and personal property auction business. On September 11, 2009, I had a dream come true, I married my high school sweetheart, Cindy! Life is Good!!

I would like to say “Thanks” and tip my hat to Rich and Char Krogstad for a wonderful convention in beautiful Spearfish, SD. The hospitality, speakers, and facility were all great.

Mr. John Owen was voted “Peoples Choice” award winner at the Friday night Fun Auction and was most deserving of this award! Congratulations John

I would like to remind all of you that SDAA Bid Calling contest will be held again this year at the South Dakota State Fair, Dakotaland Stage, Huron, SD, on Sunday September 5 at 2:00 p.m. Once again, the SDAA will be working with the South Dakota 4-H Foundation to help raise funds for their work with the youth of our state. I would like to encourage all of you to make this fun event; it’s not only a great opportunity to listen to a lot of great auctioneers, but to help out a great bunch of 4-H kids.

The 2011 SDAA convention is going to be held at the Cedar Shore Resort, Chamberlain, SD, on June 9, 10, and 11. We are currently planning a schedule that will focus on new auctioneers, seminars relating to personal property auctions as well as real estate continuing education courses.

Fellow auctioneers, I hope you have a safe, fun, and busy summer with auction sales. As your 2010 SDAA President, if I can be of any assistance please feel free to call or email me, I’ve always got time to help a fellow auctioneer! Look forward to seeing all of you at the State Fair in September.
